Athletic Council Minutes
December 3, 2003
The Athletic Council meeting was called to order at 8:40 at Solano Office
of Education.
Present: Davis -- David Blackwell. Napa -- Scott Kostecka.
Vacaville ÐFred Jones and Gail McNally. VintageÑMaryanne Christofferson. WoodÑBill
Ewing.
Absent: Armijo Ð Jay Dahl
- Winter Sports: Wrestling: Successful novice tournament with
the SCAC.
- Spring Sports:
- Track
Week 6 conflict with facility for Napa and Vintage.
League meet still to be scheduled (5/12 & 14)
Accutrack -- $1,000 for both days if we need to rent.
Possibility of League meet to be held in conjunction with SCAC.
- Baseball
All League (Section by-Laws) recommend patch numbers by position.
Every effort should be made for rain outs to be played in sequence.
Request for Baseball By-Laws
6.3 and 6.2-2 to be eliminated.
The coaches request a change in By-Law for 2 weeks (before /after Easter)
for scheduling. If There is a conflict with League and Easter
tournaments, they want a ruling saying the League school
will reschedule.
The coaches want to increase the patch numbers from 14 to 16.
- Swimming
The ADs need to touch base with coaches regarding the start date moving
to March 1st for 2004-2005 school year.
- Fall Sports
- Football -- Fred had talked with John Williams at the Section office
to re-open the section placement for play-offs.
- Tennis -- Section seeding by USTA ranking -- seeded 1 - 6.
MEL -- went smooth. Kept same school from competing in the first
round.
- Other
- Wood's floor has not been refinished yet. It will take about
1 week to complete the job. Wood may have to change home games
during the refinishing.
- Standardizing of all League patches -- No one was ready to discuss
this item.
- Football-- Fred asked who is looking for games for next year: WCW
1st wk, Davis 4 & 5, Napa none, Vintage 3, 4.
