BOARD OF MANGERS

May 28, 2003

 

MINUTES

 

THE Board of Mangers of the Monticello Empire League was called to order at 9:25 by President Wayne Mills.

 

In attendance were:

            Armijo:            Rick Vaccaro, Principal and Jay Dahl, A.D.

Davis:              Michael Cawley, Principal and Brian Ziser, A.D.

            Napa:               Barbara Franco, Principal and Scott Kostecka, A.D.

            Vacaville:         Wayne Mills, Principal and Fred Jones, A.D. and Gail McNally, A.D.

            Vintage:           Harrell Miller, Principal and Maryanne Christoffersen, A.D.

            Wood:             Henrie Newland, Principal and Tracy Boyd, A.D. and Bill Ewing, A.D.

 

1.   Appointment of Commissioner
Wayne Mills motioned that Joan Mumaugh be appointed commissioner
Second by Harrold Miller. Vote unanimous.

2.   Revision of the Constitution and By-Laws

 

A.    Barbara Franco, Scott Kostecka, Maryanne Christoffersen and Gail McNally volunteered to be an Ad-Hoc committee that will meet this summer to review the constitution and by-laws. The committee will bring recommendations to the Board of Managers in September.

B.    Henrie Newland motioned that the Board adopt the present constitution with changes in numbers to represent the current number of schools in the league. Harrold Miller seconded the motion. Vote unanimous

3.   League Schedules

  1. Corrections were discussed for Football, BoysÕ and GirlsÕ Basketball and Girls Tennis. Corrected schedules will be sent by the commissioner.
  2. Maryanne Christoffersen recommends moving the 11/4/2003 Tennis league date to earlier in the season to afford make-up time before the league tournament on November 7 and 8. Henrie Newland motioned to move the 11/4 league date to 9/17. Fred Jones seconded the motion. Vote unanimous
  3. Brian Ziser reminded everyone that Davis home matches in Volleyball would begin at 4:30 and Tennis would start at 4:00.
  4. Water Polo: Brian Ziser presented a triple round 4 team schedule as the two Vacaville schools will not field water polo this upcoming year. Vintage must play all home matches on Tuesday or Thursday due to the Napa College schedule. Maryanne gave alternate dates for the Vintage home matches. Brian Ziser motioned to accept the water polo schedule with the Vintage date changes. Wayne Mills seconded the motion. Vote unanimous.

 

4.   AD in Charge of Sports

A.    Armijo Boys and Girls Basketball and Boys and Girls Golf

B.    Davis: Softball, Swimming and Water Polo.

C.    Napa: Boys and Girls Soccer and Volleyball

D.   Vacaville: Badminton, Football and Wrestling

E.    Vintage: Baseball and Boys and Girls Tennis

F.    Wood: Cross Country and Track

 

5.     Section Billing

A.    The Sac Joaquin will bill the league $70.00 for Tennis in the Fall and Spring to cover section tournament expenses. The schools that send players to the section tournament will be assessed a proportionate share of the fee.

B.    The Sac Joaquin section office typically assess the league $100.00 per school for the section track meet. All six schools will be assessed 1/6th of the bill.

 

6.     Banners and Patches

Joan presented the cost of banners and patches from Western University Manufacturing, Neff and Morphy awards. After a discussion, it was decided that the MEL would order the banner from Neff on the new celex material. It was the consensus that the banner should look like the original MEL banner. The banner will have 6 stars, 5 down and one star on the top red stripe. For patches the Board decided to contract with Morphy awards. Again, the patch needs to follow the size, shape and color of the original MEL patch

7.     Future Meetings

All meetings will be at 8:00 at the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) unless otherwise stated.

 

A.    Board Of Mangers: 9/10 TBA, 10/15, 1/14, 4/21

B.    Athletic Council: The first Wednesday of every month starting September 3rd.
